Sometimes We Hold Things Together is a site specific performance and video installation made for my solo exhibit in Upscale Gallery. The works were created in collaboration with discarded drawings, seedlings and wind.
The photo’s and video’s shown here are registrations of what happened in the gallery. Upscale Galleria has the usual characteristic of being at a scale of 1:10.
”her choice of materials, including charcoal, clay and pastels, naturally creates a connection with nature, her movements simulate natural forces. By regularly inserting herself in her work, the relationship between nature and human is literally depicted. This creates a certain rawness in her work that is paired with the vulnerability or otherwise malleability of humans. Marijke de Pous is the missing piece of the puzzle that completes her work.”
