Marijke de Pous is a visual artist based in Rotterdam. After a 15 year break during which she studied and taught philosophy, co-founded DRIFT Transition Academy and became a parent of two, she has rebuilt her artistic practice as the main ground for her activities, with her studio work taking centre stage.

Academic & Creative entrepreneurship
2013-2021 Director and co-founder of DRIFT Transition Academy | DRIFT, Erasmus University Rotterdam
DRIFT Transition Academy is the educational pillar of DRIFT: an activistic research institute in the field of sustainability transitions and transition governance. As co-founder and director, I stewarded international partnerships and led the development of many of our academic and professional learning programs with an activist orientation towards more just, sustainable and resilient futures. Being part of an inspiring group of action researchers, I strove to create learning environments that nurtured the passion, expertise and creativity of everyone involved.
2006- now Webdesigner at Studio Radiale Nuance
Designing and building custom websites for creative professionals, galleries and writers. Currently working with the latest versions of wordpress and squarespace.
2009 -2013 Teaching Assistant Philosophy Faculty | EUR
Besides my regular work of a teaching assistant I coordinated two philosophical minors and I co-developed and taught a series of primary school philosophy lessons for gifted children in collaboration with the science Hub, EUR.
2006-2007 Co-founder and chair of stichting DeZesDe
DeZesDe: a collaborative of artists, graphic designers and two socially engaged NGO's (Critical Mass and No-Borders), with shared studio spaces and a curated exposition and project space in the former tax-office building and subsequently Vredenburg in the center of Utrecht.
