This series of performative drawings explores the ways in which care and resistance are interwoven as well as the tension between them. Both the proces and resulting scenes speek to our (in)ability to carry or be carried, to see vulnerability as strength, to loose control. The large drawings that set the stage in many of the works bear markings of charcoal, locally sourced river clay and pastel crayons. As with my other work the series also addresses the creative process itself. A way of bearing witness to the intimacy between the known and the unknown, the moment and the material, and to putting oneself at stake in order to bring something new into being. The purposeful amplification of color in these works coincides with the emergence this new line of artistic inquiry, which continues to shape my practice.
