Choreographies of Care and Resistance groups together a body of performative drawings that speak to our (in)capacity to carry and be carried. The large drawings that set the stage in many of the works carry the markings of charcoal, locally sourced mud and pastel. As often the case the works in this series also bear witness to the creative process itself: to the intimacy between the known and the unknown, the moment and the material, and to putting oneself at stake in order to bring something new into being. The purposeful amplification of color in some of these works coincides with the emergence this new line of artistic inquiry which continues to shape my practice.
