Choreographies of Care and Resistance groups together a growing body of performative drawings that speak to our (in)ability to carry or be carried, to see vulnerability as strength, to care without perpetuating old harms, to loose control. The large drawings that set the stage in many of the works bear the markings of charcoal, locally sourced mud and pastel. As in my other work the series also addresses the creative process itself. A way of bearing witness to the intimacy between the known and the unknown, the moment and the material, and to putting oneself at stake in order to bring something new into being. The purposeful amplification of color in some of these works coincides with the emergence this new line of artistic inquiry which continues to shape my practice.
